About the Role

A millwright is a skilled tradesperson who uses heavy-duty equipment and blueprints to assemble, disassemble, move, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and industrial machinery. As a millwright, you complete comprehensive industrial and mechanical projects in various industrial environments, such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and factories. You can work in a variety of industries, including construction, food processing, power, recycling, aggregate and mining, and manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Millwright preferred, Apprentices, and those with equivalent to journeyman millwright experience will be considered

  • 3+ years maintenance experience is preferred

  • Equipment Operator’s Certification to operate the forklift and pallet jack, Scissor lift, Zoom boom, JLG or the ability to obtain certifications

  • Experience following preventative maintenance programs and documenting work as it is completed. Experience using computer based preventative maintenance systems an asset

  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) and excellent mathematical skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skilled at troubleshooting machinery is a must

  • Able to provide clear, concise general instructions for team effectiveness

  • Must be able to communicate and work well with others, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Must be able to follow set procedures, efficiently, effectively and prioritize work

  • Excellent problem-solving skills (observing the problem, deciding the cause, and then working out the most effective way to resolve it)

  • Able to react quickly to problems as they arise to minimize production down time

  • Able to independently bring forth innovative ideas and suggestions to improve production and/or the work environment

  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination and dexterity needed when using tools to make adjustments to the machine and when handling product and equipment

  • Able to get into different physical positions as required to perform equipment maintenance

  • Able to lift 50 lbs
